For 30+ years, I have been involved in Children's Ministry in one facet or another. Of those 30+ years, I have been a Children's Pastor for 17 years. Recently, through a series of events, I was asked by our board to be the interim pastor while the church looked for a new leader. During this time, God directed me to 'turn in' my resume to the board. I, being extremely happy in Children's Ministry, argued with God for 2 weeks. Finally, I realized that it was a senseless battle and that I must be obedient to God. I really never expected it to go any further. Thank God for a board of deacons that were in tune with Him and followed His direction!
However, God certainly had a plan for me...one of which I was totally unaware. So, here it is...during the 5 months I was the interim leader of our church, God began to change my heart from that of a Children's Pastor to a heart of one who would minister to adults.
I have now been the 'Lead Pastor' for 3 months. Let me just tell you...it is a whole new world on this side of the fence. I wouldn't trade it for the world but it is certainly so much more than I ever anticipated. I love every minute of it. Yes, it is time consuming. Yes, it is tiring. Yes, there seems to be a never ending 'need.' But the blessings that God gives through all of those things...PRICELESS!
One of the greatest blessings I've received through this experience is the 'body' of believers known as New Hope Assembly of God! The people in our church are some of the greatest people I've ever known. God has given me 2 Scriptures for our church and those verses have given me our 'motto.' Hebrews 6:19 and Mark 10:45...that is the mission of our church. We must be 'Anchored in Jesus...Serving in His name!'
That Mission Statement...Anchored in Jesus...Serving in His Name...is the life blood of our church. The people in our church are amazing as they allow God to use them.
I am truly blessed to shepherd this body of believers. They truly are PRICELESS!! I thank God for His call on my life. I thank Him for using me to further the Kingdom.
Thank you for allowing me to 'brag' a little bit on our church! I pray huge blessings on you and your family this Christmas Season!
