Angels Among Us

Recently I realized that I had some money missing...a fairly large sum of money.  This loss was devastating.  I don't know if I decided to move the money from my 'secret' hiding place and just forgot where I put it or if someone took the money.  For over a month I have been fretting about this money.  What am I going to do if I don't find it?  How will I recover the loss?  Question after question I would ask myself.  I would dream about it.  It would be on my mind constantly.  I was nearly incapacitated by the loss.  Finally, my daughter reminded me of something we learned in our Bible study...God is in control...something I already knew but was so preoccupied with my own worry that I wasn't seeing it.  God knows exactly where that money is.  He knows if I have misplaced it and He knows if someone took it.  Neither scenario can I do anything about.  I have looked high and low a hundred times over.  I have been unsuccessful in my search.  Upon being reminded that God knows where the money is, I had a peace come over me.  I began to let go and let God.  I figured He IS in control and I ought to just let Him be in control and quit fighting it.

Well, there is a song out...it's an older one, by the group Alabama.  It's called Angels Among Us.  It is not a Christian song, but it could most certainly be.  It is a wonderful song.

I was walking home from school on a cold winter's day
Took a shortcut through the woods and I lost my way
It was getting late and I was scared and alone
Then a kind old man took my hand and led me home
Mama couldn't see him, but he was standing there
But I knew in my heart, he was the answer to my prayers

Oh I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live
To teach us how to give
To guide us with a light of love

When life dealt troubled times and had me down on my knees
There's always been someone there to come along and comfort me
A kind word from a stranger to lend a helping hand
A phone call from a friend just to say I understand
Ain't it kind of funny at the dark end of the road
Someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope

Oh I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live
To teach us how to give
To guide us with a light of love

They wear so many faces
Show up in the strangest places
Grace us with thier mercy
In our time of need

Oh I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live
To teach us how to give
To guide us with a light of love\

This song took on new meaning for me this week.  See, in my darkest hour...when the need to have that money found was at it's highest...there was an angel among us!  I do not know who...nor do I need to know...but an angel gave me nearly all the money that was lost.  It came in an unmarked envelope with just my name on it.  It was delivered to me by a friend.  She would not tell me from where it came.  So...to my Angel, God bless you.  Thank you for being obedient to God.  I pray that I find my money...should I find it, I will give your messenger an envelope to give to you...repaying you for your kind deed.  You may never know what your kindness has meant but I pray the same kindness finds you in the future.

Wow! That is SO God :) Thank you for sharing that with us. Our pastor spoke on angels today in church and how very real they are, how wonderful to read your story after that sermon! Thank you!
