Put God to the Test!

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
Malachi 3:10

God is so good and He is faithful.  For years my husband and I 'didn't have the money' to tithe.  At least that was what we thought.  Some years after we became Christians, we were challenged to 'tithe.'  It was difficult at first.  I mean, if our bills for the week were $200 and we only had $150 with which to pay them...how could we possibly give away $15?  Well, we had accepted the challenge...and we were going to be faithful.  I wanted to 'test' God.  He tells us to 'test' Him in the Word...so, I was going to test Him.  And, test Him we did!  It's been too many years now for me to remember just when it happened.  For the life of me, I can't remember when we started tithing...it just happened.

I must say...God IS faithful.  He honors His word.  Now, we may not be rolling in the dough but our needs are met.  My bills are paid...perhaps I don't always have the money to pay them before the grace period but when push comes to shove, God is faithful and He provides the funds needed to pay whatever needs paid!  This past Friday, I didn't see any possible way the money would come in by today...low and behold...GOD IS FAITHFUL!  The money was there to pay what needed to be paid.  I don't understand it...it makes no sense...but God honors those who honor Him.  This morning, the money was there!  I was able to pay the bill.  Now, I don't have much left over, but...the need was met!

I challenge you...if you think you don't have the money to pay your tithes...put God to the test!  Honestly, if you can't live on 90% of your income...you certainly can't live on 100%.  Goodness, we pay our hairdressers and waitresses/waiters 15-20% of the total bill...God only requires 10%.

It may be difficult at first...but MAKE THE COMMITMENT and follow through!  I guarantee you...you will see a difference.  Once you give God His due...He has no choice but to bless your socks off!!!  Don't make the mistake of robbing God.  Malachi 3:8 says:  "Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.  But you ask, 'How are we robbing you?'  In tithes and offerings."  I certainly don't want to chance 'robbing' God!  I believe His wrath would be far worse than His blessing is good!

For so long I struggled with this. Sorry God, I have to buy diapers instead. Sorry God, we need gas in the car. Excuses, excuses. I must obey God, not rob Him. Thank you for this reminder.

As I was reading this I heard God say "Keep tithing no matter what happens" We never know where the money is goign to come from, things may seem bleak and without hope but if we just wait God blesses us for our obedience to Him and His law. Thank you for this Debi :-)

God is faithful! And He doesn't respond to our time table. His thought and ways are higher than ours. But He is faithful! I don't ever want to rob God.

Thanks Debi, for a great post. God is so faithful. If we miss tithing for a week it seems like something is missing. In probably 20 years we haven't missed more than a couple of times. Even when we are on vacation Dad makes sure the tithing is paid. One must remember to give joyfully. God doesn't want us to feel like He is stealing His money, it all belongs to Him and He is giving us 90% to live on. What a wonderful and great God we have. Thanks for a really wonderful post. Love you and blessings.
