Pay It Forward

So, today is Pay it Forward day!  I was thinking about this and am really a little bit heart sick about this.  Not that it is a day set aside to do something nice...but rather that we 'need' a day to remind us to do something nice!

Seems to me that Jesus talked about this...a lot!  Matthew 7: 12 tells us "So in everything you do, do to others what you would have them do to you..."  If I understand this correctly, I believe that Jesus is telling us to pay it forward all the time...IF we want people to treat us the same way!  Why is it that we need a special day to remind us of what Jesus told us so many years ago?  What a shame!

I often told my kids to treat others the way we want to be treated!  It's the good ol' golden rule!  I know that we all have told our kids to 'do unto others.'  Why is it that WE don't do it?  I think it is a travesty!!!  It is shameful that we attempt to teach our children to do this yet as adults, we ignore our very own teachings.

Well, God has spoken to me about this today!  I will pay it forward today.  Today, I will listen to the ever so quiet nudging of the Holy Spirit and obey when He tells me it is time.  I pray that God will help me to be ever more conscious of His urgings and remember Matthew 7:12 and as a result, I will not need a special day to remind me to pay it forward!

It is a little sad that we need a day for people to do it. God blesses us so much that how can we not pay if forward? We should always look for ways to bless and help others. Thank you for this post.

God has given me so much, I want to be faithful to give to others. Just a kind word or a smile can mean so much. Thanks for this reminder.

I agree it is sad to have a Pay It Forward day... but the great thing about is that once you start doing and giving for God it becomes addicting. Before you know it He's placed His own burden on your heart to do, go and act! Wonderful reminders, thank you!
Blessings,
