Give Me Your Eyes...

Today seems to be 'remind Debi what God has done' day.  I have read the blogs of my daughter, my friend and my mom.  Jenifer's blog dealt with a Not So Silent Night, Lisa's dealt with Peace, and my beautiful mama's dealt with Spreading the Gospel.  Take a moment to click on each of the links and read their blogs.  You will truly be inspired, and if you're like me, you may even be convicted a little.

There is a song by Brandon Heath entitled Give Me Your Eyes.  Every time I hear this song, I begin to pray that God will give me His eyes.  In the event you have not heard the song, here are the lyrics:

Look down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight

Touch down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaol
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work, He's buying time

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

I've been here a million times
A couple million eyes
Just move and pass me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
I need a second glance
Give me a second chance
To see the way You've seen people all along

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

I never really thought about it until I started hearing this song in a new way.  I don't think I have the compassion of God.  I don't think I have the eyes of God.  There are so many times that I get busy with the busyness of living MY life that I fail to see the hurting in others.  So, today...I am making this song my prayer.  God give me Your eyes for just a short second so that I may see the world the way You do!

Walking the walk & talking the talk,

I love that song! I do not always have compassion for others the way I should. I want God to give me His eyes. I want to see the hurt He does and love on them. I want to pray for them and bless them. God is compassionate toward us and we should be toward others. Thank you for this reminder.

This song and Matthew West's song, My Own Little World, both convict me. "Father break my heart for what breaks Yours." Wow! That's quite a prayer. God has shown me such grace and mercy. The least I can do is share that with others.
Thanks for this great post!

That is a lovely song. I would love to have His eyes for just a moment. There is so much to see that none of us really see. We don't see the hurting, the lonely, the sick, the hungry, and the list could go on and on. I believe our hearts would really hurt if we saw these things and it just might be good for us to know there are others that doesn't have our comfort zone. We need to know just what is out there that He sees. Thanks for a wonderful post.
