What to praise God for...

These thoughts are not mine originally, but I couldn't help but pass them on.  Take a look at the shortest chapter in the Bible...Psalm 117.  This chapter is only two verses long and it gives us 'reasons' to praise God!

Psalm 117
1Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!  Laud Him, all you peoples!

To laud means, "to speak very well of."  The Hebrew word
for Gentiles means all people except the Jews; thus this
word means all other groups, along ethnic or language
lines.

2For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the Lord endures forever.  Praise the Lord!

Merciful kindness refers to God's faithfulness to His Covenant promises, to His Children all over the World.

Have you ever said to yourself, "I can't think of anything that God has done for me lately, so how can I praise Him?  (I certainly have.)

Well, this short little chapter in the Bible gives us two big reasons to praise our Heavenly Father; His tremendous love toward us, and His faithfulness that endures forever.  So just think, if God did nothing else for us He would still be worthy of our highest praise everyday!

I will confess...I have often thought that I have nothing special to praise God for.  Sure, I thank Him and praise Him for my family, my home, my job, for dying for me, for saving my soul, etc.  But too many times I have thought that there is nothing special for me to thank God for.

Apparently I have missed the mark.  There is ALWAYS something special to thank God for...just read Psalm 117!

I am thankful for the devotionals that I receive via email.  They are always timely...just like God!!!
